Slender perennial, 15-50 cm. Sterns 2-4 mm diam. below, glabrous, striate. Lower leaves subglabrous, 1-2-pinnate to biternate, lamina 4-12 cm,  narrowly triangular in outline. Leaflets ovate to- ovate-lanceolate or elliptic in outline, 10-40 mm, dentate, the terminal one often 3-lobed. Cauline leaves with ovate to oblong sheaths. Rays 4-12, ± unequal, 2-5 cm, ascending in fruit, pubescent. Bracteoles minute or none. Flowers white, strongly radiant, the outer petals 8-12 mm, deeply bifid into linear-oblong lobes. Ovary puberulent. Fruits broadly elliptic, 5-6 x 4 mm, puberulent or glabrescent; dorsal vittae filiform, c. 1- as long as mericarp; commissural vittae 1-2, short and divergent. Fl. 6-8. Moist meadows, rocky gullies, by streams, 1400-2600 m.
