Procumbent or ascending, caulescent, perennial herb, 20-35 cm, with a branched woody caudex; stems 15-25 cm. Leaves 2.5-5 cm; leaflets 8-10 mm, narrowly elliptic, adpressed bifurcate-strigillose, 8-9-paired; stipules c. 3 mm, triangular, overlapping though not joined. Peduncles 4-10 cm. Inflorescence 2-2,5 x 1,5-2 cm, a lax to dense, globose or oblong, 10-20-flowered spike, elongating in fruit. Bracts c. 3 mm, lanceolate. Calyx 5-7 mm, tubular, adpressed black and white bifurcate-hairy; teeth c. 3 mm, linear. Corolla purple; standard 12-20 mm, glabrous. Legume 10-12 x c. 3 mm, oblong, predominantly white adpressed bifurcate-hairy, erecto-patent or horizontally spreading; beak c. 3 mm, curved. Fl. 5- 6.  Limestone slopes, Quercus macchie, etc., 400-1800 m.
