Decumbent, mat-forming ± woody-based perennial. Stems many from base, simple or rarely branched, 2-10 cm. Leaves linear to linear-elliptic, sometimes scale-like at base, 2-10 x 0.75-1.25mm. Inflorescence a raceme. Bracts leaf-like, 3-4x as long as bracteoles, bracts 2-3 x as long as nut. Flowers subsessile, white; perianth broadly campanulate, 1-1.5 mm, lobes triangular, 0.5-0.75 mm. Fruit 2-2.5 x 1.25-1.75 mm; nut ovoid, glabrous, obscurely reticulately nerved, persistent perianth 1/4-1/5-x as long as nut; pedicel slightly swollen. Fl. 4-7. Meadows, rocky slopes and scree, 1100-3300 m.
