Corm oblong-ovoid, 15-20 x 10-15 mm; outer tunics black or blackish-brown, coriaceous; innermost tunic dark brown, with a short neck to 1 cm. Leaves 4, linear to linear-lanceolate, 3-5 x 0.2-0.3 cm at anthesis, to 18 x 0.3-0.5 cm at maturity, acute, green, ciliate or with scabrid margins. Flowers 3-5, white to purplish-pink. Limb ofperianth segments linear to narrowly elliptic, 20-25 x 3 mm, base usually exauriculate. Filaments to 8 mm; anthers black, deep purplish-black or greenish-black, 2-3 x 1 mm; pollen pale yellow. Capsule ellipsoid to ovoid, 15-25 mm. Fl. 11-4. Overgrazed turfon limestone hillsides, gritty shale on open slopes, open Pinus brutia forest, 100-2000 m.
