Tunics papery, pale cinnamon brown, sometimes with a neck to 4 cm, moderately to densely silky felted inside. Leaves 2, spreading or recurved, glabrous or ciliate, linear to oblong, 5-10 x 0.5-2 em. Flowers 1-4, white with a yellow centre; outer perianth segments 17-30 x 4-5 mm, lanceolate to narrowly elliptic, violet-greenish to grey-green outside; inner 20-32 x 8-13 mm, ovate to broadly ovate, concave. Filaments yellow, 6-9 mm; anthers yellow, 2-4.5 mm, apiculate, tip often black. Ovary fusiform. Capsule 1.5-2 cm, subglobose to ellipsoid, shortly apiculate. 2n = 24. Fl. 4-6. Mainly screes, 1980-3000 m.
From S.W. Turkestan to Transcaucasia, Iran & S. Russia; isolated records from S. Jugoslavia, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia. Ir.-Tur. element.
