Perennial. Stems many, erect or ascending, 4,5-13 cm, often purplish, unbranched, villous. Leaves narrowly oblong, 1-pinnatisect, 14-22 x 6-8 mm, serrate; basal leaves with 2-4 cm petioles, cauline few, opposite or ± verticillate. Inflorescence a many-flowered, oblong, short, lanate spike, scarcely elongating in fruit. Bracts ovate, 10-13 x 5-9 mm, irregularly incised. Pedicels erect-spreading, c. 1 mm. Calyx tubular, 9-11 mm; tube 5-7 mm; lobes 3-5 mm. Corolla pink to purple, 23-27 mm; tube 15-18 mm, curved or bent; upper lip ± straight, obtuse, rounded. Anthers not mucronate; filaments glabrous. Capsule oblong, 15 x 5 mm, obliquely falcate, glabrous, acute. Fl. 5-8. Limestone rocky slopes, cliffs, crevices and gravel near melting snow, 1600-3100 m.
