Annual, erect, 8-20 cm, ± branched, soon blackening when dry. Stems eglandular-pubescent with short ± crisp hairs. Petiole 2-4 mm; lamina broadly ovate, 9-20 x 5-15 mm, purple beneath, sparsely pubescent to subglabrous, base truncate, margin coarsely serrate to crenate. Raceme 15-30-flowered, densely eglandular- and gland·ular-pubescent with robust 0,7-1,2 mm glandular hairs. Lower bracts leaf-like, serrate, upper lanceolate, entire. Fruiting pedicels 6-9 mm, 1-1,5 x bracts, patent and hooked upwards below fruit. Calyx lobes ovate-lanceolate, 5,5-7,5 x 2,5-3,5 mm in fruit. Corolla bright blue, 3-4 mm diam., shorter than calyx. Style 1,4-1,7 mm. Capsule hygrochastic4-5 x 6-8 mm, shorter than calyx, glabrous with prominent veins, base roundedtruncate, sinus with angle of 90-120°, subequalling style. Seeds 4-6, suborbicular, cup-shaped, 2-3 x 1,5-2,5 mm, yellowish, smooth, ± sticky when wet. Fl. 3-5. Rocky open Quercus forests, calcareous scree, fields, c. 500-1600 m.
