Perennial, 30-80 cm, glabrous. Stem terete, simple or branched. Basal leaves bright green, oblong to oblong-linear, entire, obtuse, 7-15 x 0,7-2,5 cm incl.long petiole; cauline similar but smaller. Inflorescence lax, with 30-100 or more flowers. Bracts ovate to lanceolate, acuminate, entire, 2-3 mm. Pedicels 10-15 mm, ebracteolate. Calyx 2-2,5 mm, lobes lanceolate, acute. Corolla yellow, 15-18 mm diam., gland-dotted outside, often with red spots in centre. Anthers all reniform, filaments with whitish yellow wool, 2 anterior glabrous near apex. Capsule broadly ovate, 4 x 3 mm. Fl. 6. Wet places by lakes and streams, 1170 m.

Inflorescence lax, 5-25-flowered. Bracts ovate to ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, entire, 2-3 mm. Pedicels 10-20 mm, ebracteolate. Calyx 2-3 mm, lobes ovate or ovate-lanceolate, acuminate. Corolla yellow, 10-12 mm diam., gland-dotted outside.. Anthers all reniform, filaments with whitish yellow wool up to anthers or 2 anterior glabrous near apex. Capsule ovate, 5 x 3 mm. Fl. 6-9. Salt marshes, pools drying out in summer, c. 1000 m.
