Biennial, 50-100 cm, with hard, rough, adpressed, yellowish stellate-tomentose indumentum, eglandular. Stem robust, terete or obtuse-angled, branched. Basal leaves lanceolate to ovate-oblong, 7-40 x 2,5-10 cm, entire, petiole 1-6 cm; upper cauline ovate or cordate-auriculate, semi-amplexicaul. Inflorescence lax, with many branches forming elliptic or ovate-pyramidal panicle, with clusters of 2-7 flowers. Bracts orbicular, cordate or broadly ovate-acuminate. Pedicels 0,5-2 mm; bracteoles broadly ovate. Calyx 5-8 mm, cleft to ½ -way into triangular-lanceolate, acute lobes. Corolla yellow, 15-25 mm diam., without pellucid glands, stellate-tomentose outside. Stamens 5, anthers reniform, filaments enlarged near base, with whitish-yellow wool up to anthers. Capsule broadly ovate, 5-7 x 4-6 mm, stellate-tomentose. Fl. 5-7. Pinus brutia forest, Quercus scrub, limestone slopes, s.l.-580 m.
