Annual, subglabrous to adpressed hairy, without stalked glandular hairs, usually green to yellowish green when dried. Stem erect, 10-60 cem, branched, angled, with denticulate ridges. Leaves ovate to ovate-rhombic, lamina to 5 x 3,5 cm, cuneate at base, decurrent into petiole, margin usually sinuate-dentate, usually densely pilose on both surfaces. Cymes racemose, 3-5-flowered, peduncles 4-19 mm, equalling or shorter than fruiting pedicels. Calyx 2 mm, lobes oblong with rounded angles between them. Corolla usually white, rarely pale lilac, 5-6 mm, lobes pilose outside. Berry orange, 7-9 mm. FI. 6-11. Riversides, seashores, waste places, cultivated ground, s.l.-1350 m.
